embracing life

Another perspective on life, worldviews, and God - and how they all fit together in everyday experience. Simple stuff.

During an evening commercial, I heard the honorable Judge Judy declare, “If it doesn’t make any sense, it’s not true.” She was probably referring to some far fetched tale concocted by a guilty defendant, but does a story have to make complete sense to be true? And who gets to play judge anyway? What might make sense from one perspective may not to another and be true nonetheless.

The Christian story is like this. Much of it makes no sense to me, but that doesn’t determine it’s truthfulness. Just because it does not make sense to me, doesn't mean that its nonsense. Maybe this is what makes faith so challenging (and exciting), believing in something we cannot know with certainty, yet believing it to be true even when it doesn't make sense.

Sorry Judge, I know you're the one wearing the robe, but I disagree with you on this one.
