embracing life

Another perspective on life, worldviews, and God - and how they all fit together in everyday experience. Simple stuff.

It just got me thinking...

On some days after dropping off Ali at work, I listen to AJ's playhouse on the short drive home. Such was the case last Wednesday. The DJ's, playing off an article they had seen in some high quality celebrity magazine, posed this question to their female listeners, "why does it suck to be hot?"

I had just had a conversation with a guy the day before who was complaining about how hot (temperature) it had been the last few days, and now I found myself listening to girls whine about being so beautiful. As if beautiful girls who live in one of the most beautiful climates really have much to complain about.

It just got me thinking. We humans just like to complain. Many, maybe even most of my friends complain about money but all of us have cars, cell phones and other "necessary" luxuries. We complain about being overweight, not hungry. We whine about being tired, but have nice places to sleep. I know life isn't perfect and our struggles are very real, but seriously, it's not that bad for most of us (especially those of us who have the means to access this blog).

If I could institute a day, like mothers day or memorial day, I would want it to be "no complaining day," but I might call it, "see the good" day.

What do you think? And if you don't like it, I don't want to hear about it, not today. Just something I was thinking about.
