CHANGING
A couple of weeks ago I was in Reno visiting my family and doing some fundraising at my previous church, Summit Christian Church. It was a great weekend! While at church, more than one person commented that I looked great and wondered if I had been working out. I could not tell if they were joking. Since moving to San Diego my muscles have gotten smaller, my belly bigger and I have noticed that God gifted me with a second chin I never knew about.
Yes I have changed but not how these few people had recognized. And what about the many others I interacted with that said nothing. Did they see no change? Were they choosing to be kind by keeping quiet? Whatever, I'm not too worried about it.
I just completed the final article about what we value at Citywalk church. Changes in life I really care about. Changes that if really set in and characterized my life...well, people would notice, there would be no doubt about the changes and I think people would be talking about it. I hope you will spend a moment to check yourself out, not in the mirror, but in the reflection of the values that I care so deeply about: www.citywalkchurch.org/the_walk.html
I know there are more things in life than eating well and staying in shape...but I still work at it. There too are many more things to value in life than what we have chosen at Citywalk...but we believe these changes in our lives will make a difference. So I hope you too will embrace them.
So this week, Thanksgiving, may you eat well and take a good walk. May you be generous with those you spend the day with. May you give thanks to God. May you endure another conversation about whether or not the triptophane in the turkey really makes you tired or not..forever a mystery. An may you take the interrruptions in stride.
Happy Thanksgiving!
embracing life
Another perspective on life, worldviews, and God - and how they all fit together in everyday experience. Simple stuff.
