Why care about your age or be embarrassed to talk about it, it's one thing about you that you cannot change. I have heard many say that it does not matter how old you are as long as you stay young. And of course any of us could use our wonderful world of medicine to make our skin look younger. Or we could just admit that in fact we are getting older every day. Circumstances have caused me to think about this the past several days; 5 that are too good not to share (greying hair, slowing metabolism and forgetting to blog not included).
Runner up. I know I just said 5, but this one had to be included. A couple of months ago I was given tickets to see Gnarls Barkley in concert. You know you're getting old when you leave a concert early because it's too loud and too wierd.
5. Last week I was in a meeting at Hope University in Orange County. After the meeting one of the professors and I went to Starbucks to debrief (only old people use this word) the meeting and bumped into several of his students. He introduced me to them and we talked for just a moment. I was surprised at how young one of the boys looked, and even more surpised as he walked away saying to me, "pleasure to meet you sir."
4. Technology is not specifically generational, but. I feel like I am one of a small minority that does not have a myspace and it does not bother me at all.
3. Some friends I was with last weekend were retelling their story about a birthday party they just attended. Although the birthday boy was turning 28, everything about the party said he was 30. It was hilarious...to them.
2. During a breakout session at a conference I attended on Friday, one guy (probably in his 20's) started his comment like this. "Now for those of you over 40, you probably won't understand this." I've got a little ways to go until 40, but I sure did feel like he was talking to me.
1. And the number 1 old age experience from my last 7 days of life...Early Sunday morning I climbed up my two step ladder to hang some Christmas lights and fell. At least I didn't break my hip.
embracing life
Another perspective on life, worldviews, and God - and how they all fit together in everyday experience. Simple stuff.
