LIVE MUSIC AND THE CLEARANCE RACK

Tonight Ali and I wandered into Borders on the way home from a movie that I will not recommend. The usual mix of people filled the cafe; odd (straining to be generous and politically correct here) is ordinary at the downtown store. Although the movie was bad, the independent singer songwriter filling the room with soul was refreshing. Lee Tyler Post is someone I will recommend. As I quietly sat enjoying music, mind still disillusioned by our government thanks to the movie I had just witnessed, something on the clearance rack caught my eye and forced action.

It wasn't the demonic bible, although that concerned me. It was not the no fault divorce kit, but this did sadden me. It certainly wasn't the "your best life now" Christian board game, please don't buy this or make me tell you how this made me feel. Demonic bibles, divorce kits and Christian embarrassments were no match for it. But my heart did sink to see some of my great friends on the clearance rack.

There they sat, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and many others from the Springfield gang packaged up in the great game of Othello...Simpsons style.

Give me a break, it's midnight on a Friday night and I am home writing a blog...Long live the Simpsons.
