embracing life

Another perspective on life, worldviews, and God - and how they all fit together in everyday experience. Simple stuff.

I have been working on redoing my blog site and noticed that I haven't written in some time. A lot of good a fancy new blog will be if I don't add new entries. So write on I will. Much has happened in the last month with Citywalk. Here's just a few. We are discussing our way through the gospel of John in our home churches...I am seeing things in Jesus I have never considered before. On March 11 we gathered for our first community worship service. On March 14 I presented my idea for an extension campus of Hope University in San Diego to a group of students. I feel great about the direction we are headed and am excited about the advancement of the Kingdom of God in the heart of the city here in San Diego.

Then I walked into Borders.

It was subtle, maybe I was the only one who really noticed. Maybe I noticed because they worked directly opposite to what I am so excited about. Books, scattered around the store (no surprise being in Borders) that worked hard to dissuade people from the Christian faith. Brilliant men and women, although wrong in my humble opinion, speaking against God, Jesus, Church, the Bible and most other things associated with Christianity. It hurt some to flip through pages so adamantly opposed to something I think is so good, right, true. But slowly things began to look up.

Faith in God was never meant to built on a mountain of arguments. Faith cannot be forced, but it can be challenged...as can unfaith. So bring it on faith challengers, both for and against. I don't think you'll be the difference maker anyway.

Hello Steven;

My name is Nikki and I work for Church Development Fund. There is a breif article on the Stadia site about City Walk and that article in turn was linked to our employee intranet. I followed the link to your site and started reading you blogs. it has taken me a couple of days, but I have read them all, and I just wanted to let you know that I think you are an inspriring writer, and I apppreciate all you have written about in your blog.

my husband and I recently moved to Lake Forest, and we have not been able to find a church to call our home yet. I only wish San Diego was not an hour or so away, as your words have peaked my interest in the church you lead.

Keep up the good work and may our Dear Father in heaven continue to bless your ministry.

Thank you

Nikki
